Exciting Testimony Mary & Martha

With a hectic few weeks of big family decisions, long working hours and
a busy weekend ahead,.
With a hectic few weeks of big family decisions, long working hours and
a busy weekend ahead, I was looking forward to the upcoming Monday
public holiday. I had planned it to be a pyjama day. A rare chance to
sleep in, stay in pyjamas and catch-up on some time with the Lord. On
the Sunday evening on an outlying road entering the city, we hit a
really bad pothole and I realised I'd blown out a tire. I went into
parking lot at the mall across the way and discovered that two tyres had
blown and the rims were also damaged, so no chance of getting off with
merely a spare tyre change. I got the AA to come out and they towed me
home. I saw may pyjama day go up in flames as the Martha in me began
planning how and where I'd be going to get this sorted. Being acutely
goal orientated, my initial instinct is to check the boxes and if
there's time left, which there seldom is, because the list never ends,
then we can consider doing some of the less pressing bits. I'm
embarrassed to say that often my relationship with the Lord survives
merely on scraps and my travel time in the car.

When I got home, I began to get mad and frustrated that my day was being
stolen, I needed it so badly. I made the choice and decided that Martha
would have to step aside so that Mary could get her time at His feet and
I said "Devil, you're not going to steel this day from me.". My Mom
agreed to borrow me her car and I decided that I would visit the tyre
place on the way into work on Tuesday and began to feel renewed
excitement about Monday's pyjama day.

It was a rejuvenating day. Many times Martha popped out her head and
said - "just call them and see what they have and how much it costs
etc," but I said no, it can wait till tomorrow. During the day I felt I
should not rush this and should call the insurance the next day and find
out if I need to do anything through them and if they cover anything. To
cut a long story short, I did, they towed my car in and had a look and
it turned out that bearings had been damaged and the rear axle had to be
replaced - more than R20,000 worth of damage.

I like Martha cos she's a girl who gets things done, but the Lord used
this incident to show me that Mary's way is strangely laced in peace and
gives the Holy Spirit an opportunity to do what needs to get done in
God's perfect way.
Thank you Cathy for this very moving story.
I would love to hear from anyone who has a special testimony or word for the congregation. Please send it to me at ruth.compion@gmail.com

OUTREACH

Silverton Community house Silverton Community house

441 Moreletta Street, Silverton
Silverton Community House was made available to Hatfield Church to build the Kingdom of God by reaching out to the Silverton area. We are part of the household of God in the spiritual, living and working with The King. Likewise God has property in the physical where all His children can go to for various needs and a place where the prodigals can return to The Father’s House.

Management

The house was placed in the care of Ps Fritz and Louise De Klerk, Hatfield Pastors of the Moot area. They have transformed the property into a Skills Development facility where people can be trained in a variety of crafts and skills. This year, together with Ps Rob Botha and the Silverton congregation, they hope to propel the premises into a self-sustaining business. Continuing with the existing skills development, they want to add teaching and service to it. With the help of a whole community giving their time, talents and skills to God, much more is possible and for God nothing is impossible. Living on the premises is the caretaker, Elfie and working with the paper crafts during the week is Lizzy.

Long term Vision- Glorify God

The full vision for the Community house is to reach the women and children in and around Silverton who is currently secluded from the Kingdom and from God by poverty, isolation, or bondage. There is more need than what meets the eye and it is God’s heart to be the answer to the cries of the people. We as His body were ordained for His works before time. We hope to make an impact in the community big enough to bring glory to God.

Short term vision- Work with what you have got

Craft Shop and Tea Garden

Since crafts are already running on the premises and we wants to add to the craft set, a Craft shop will be ideal to generate a sustainable income. The handy work of trainees, creative church members and Silverton residence can be sold from here. A tea garden can serve as a social place to the congregation, a soul saving tool for the community and will bring more feet from outside to support the Craft shop.

Various classes and courses

Louise (Hadassah Ministries & Willing Hands Craft) has trained groups of ladies in paper crafts and Fritz (Eyakho Skills Development Academy SA- ESDASA) has trained groups of men in building skills. We want to meet the immediate need of the people and plan on bringing in classes in sewing, vegetable gardening, pottery, art, and anything the Lord leads them to.

Invitation
At all times the premises must glorify God and proclaim His Truth, so spiritual courses and life groups should form part of the everyday activity. All members of Hatfield are at any time welcome to use the facilities for training, counselling, prayer, meeting etc. There is a lecture room and cooking facilities available.

Going ahead...

To continue in building the vision our immediate focus is on:

a) Turning one area into a shop by breaking and building
b) Preparing and planting a vegetable garden
c) Inviting Silverton Residence to tea as an introduction
